1. Your annexe needs to be for a blood relative/family member.

 

2. It can’t be installed in the grounds of a flat or maisonette.

 

3. It can’t be installed in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

 

4. It can’t be installed in the garden of a listed building.

 

5. It can’t be installed in a “new build” development as you need to check if it has covenants (restrictions) which don’t allow it.

 

6. The annexe must be incidental to the main house, so your relative will also spend time in your home and share services and some facilities.

 

7. It should not be separated by fences and gates and there should be a clear functional relationship between the annexe and the house; then the use is regarded as incidental.

 

8. Your annexe will be positioned to the rear of your house or to it’s side. 

 

9. Your annexe and other garden sheds/garages do not take up more than 50% of your rear/side garden.

 

As long as you comply with the 9 items above, then you can have an annexe installed under the caravan act – congratulations! (Our sales advisors will check through these items with you, for your peace of mind.)

 

 

Booths Garden Annexes are designed to comply with Section 13(2) of the 1968 Caravan
Sites Act…

 

1. Once fully assembled, it is capable of being moved by road from one place to another, whether by being towed, or by being transported on a motor vehicle or trailer. (See 3 videos below to see how Booths Annexes can be transported.)

 

2. The annexe must be designed to be assembled by bolts as the final act of assembly.

 

3. It must be for human habitation and include a kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom.

 

4. The maximum dimensions allowed under the act are;  

 

Depth – External 6.8metres (22 feet 3 3/4 inches)

 

Length – External 20 metres (65 feet 7 1/2 inches)

 

Ceiling Height – Internal 3.05 metres (10 feet 0 inches).

 

These measurements are very generous and all of Booths annexes are well within these dimensions.
