Iain: Ok, I’m here with Alex and we’ve got a new studio flat Alex.

Alex: Yes we’ve got a new annexe, it’s the 5 metre by 5 metre, so it’s a square studio. Step in. 

So what we’ve done with this one, is it’s an open plan studio. So as you can see, bedroom, TV room, Kitchen. 

Iain: That’s quite a big kitchen as well, isn’t it. 

Alex: Yes, and then over here, we’ve got our now famous bathroom, which we’ve built hundreds of. 

Iain: So it’s got the shower, sink, toilet, boiler cupboard.

Alex: So this is a small studio. It’s only 5 metre by 5 metre footprint. It has everything you need.

Iain: It actually feels really spacious.

Alex: It does, doesn’t it. It’s been surprising how everyone loves it. You have got a double bed, you’ve got the wardrobe space, the bathroom, the TV area, you’ve got the kitchen area. So you can do everything that you want, and we could put more wardrobe space in.

Iain: There’s definitely space for another double wardrobe there isn’t there. 

Alex: Then you can put storage under the bed, storage under your couch, storage in your kitchen, so there’s plenty of storage room in this one, and it feels very spacious. 

Iain: It feels huge. 

Alex: We’ve got the dehumidifier, I always point this one out, my favourite bit of kit, because that keeps the humidity at the perfect level. So if your going to live in here, you’ve got your humidity which is important, very important…it’s perfect. So the whole thing works as a building. We’re really pleased. 

It was one of the fitters that told me, don’t do it this way, do it that way. We had a little argument and he won:)

Iain: That’s a rare event!

Alex: He persuaded us to go open plan and it looks great. The fitter was Liam by the way:)

Iain: When you say open plan, you did just point out to me that if you wanted the bedroom as a private room you could easily add a wall and door. 

Alex: Yes, there are additions which you can add to this. You can add a shelving unit, internal walls, we can even do a door which divides it into four quadrants. 

Iain: I love the way it looks so big. It looks bigger than a lot of rooms in houses. 

Alex: Yes it feels big. And we can go even bigger. This is 16 foot. To fall into the caravan act you can go 36 foot. So that would be immense. That would be this twice, and another 4 foot. So you can have this big massive room. You could have this as your bedroom ensuite area, and that as your lounge kitchen area which would be big.

It’s Iain here from Booths Garden Studios, and I’m just filming the first ever 5 metre by 5 metre studio flat that Alex has just designed and we are all really excited about it.

It feels really good inside, very spacious considering its small size.

I’m doing some videos about it all and if your new to Booths you might not know that all of our studios are actually cloaked in steel. There’s no timber anywhere. I’ll show you a close up of the steel.

It’s actually plasti-coated leatherette embossed galvanised steel and the wonderful thing about it is you don’t have to look after it, you don’t have to paint or stain it for 25 years. We moved on from timber buildings nearly ten years ago now. As Alex said, it seemed a bit silly supplying a product which people would have to look after, and if you don’t look after timber, it ends up looking very tatty after a few years. That’s a huge plus of these buildings.

So say you need to get really close to a hedge, or a fence, we can literally get within 2 inches of your boundaries. 

The reason is that we don’t need any access because you don’t have to paint or stain it. So we can get really really tight to your boundaries.
